Best Barbeque in High Point & Raleigh

The World took a trip to High Point this weekend for some good ole fashioned furniture shopping and good ole fashioned North Carolina barbeque.  The restaurant we visited is known for pork barbeque, but that wasn’t even the best thing on the menu.

With gas more than $3 a gallon, we weren’t really sure if driving an hour and a half to save money on furniture was really going to work out in the end.  Nevertheless, we figured at least we could grab some good barbeque while in High Point.  I’ll save the furniture story for another blog, but several people suggested Kepley’s.  They also suggested Carter Brothers…but Kepley’s was closer to where we were shopping.

It’s not that the pork was bad, but by far, the best thing on their menu was dessert.  The peach AND the blackberry cobbler were outstanding and both were worth the drive from Raleigh.

I can’t say that I’ve given North Carolina barbeque a fair shake either, my heart (and stomach) still belongs to Texas barbeque.  I have found a few great Texas-like barbeque places here in the Triangle.  Danny’s, Red Hot & Blue and The Q Shack are where I pay tribute to fallen cattle when I can. Let me know if I’ve missed any!  And next time you’re in High Point…try the cobbler at Kepley’s!
