Do You Know Where The Shuttle Is?
How many people, right now, could honestly say they know where the shuttle is…we’ll keep it simple. Earth or space?
I know that it was two in the morning when STS-123 lifted off, but I’ve noticed since the Columbia tragedy back in 2003 each launch and landing gets less and less coverage. I hate the fact that most Americans don’t get excited or seem to care about the fact that on a semi-regular basis NASA is sending other Americans into space.
Anyway…this post is not about America’s lack of interest in the space program…but it IS about the great pictures a night launch can provide. You can see one of those pictures here, but check out NASA’s updated website for a lot more great pictures. I’ve always thought NASA had a great website, but now, they’ve made it better.
Check it out at nasa.gov and live long and prosper!

Those people who do keep track of the space shuttle tend to get a little tired of driving down to FL to watch a launch, only to see the whole thing get scrubbed because of inclement weather, or some failed safety test. After Columbia, there were A LOT of those scrubbings. It’s way to easy to lose interest. We just depend on the media to keep us up-to-date on the interesting stuff.
