NBC17 Anchors Reveal Favorite MLB Teams

It’s the first weekend of the Major League Baseball season.   Even though it’s Final Four time and the Carolina Hurricanes are hopefully about ready to start the playoffs, we’ve got to talk a little baseball.

I took a quick poll in the newsroom about who likes who when it comes to America’s pastime…and this is what I got.  A nice little graphical presentation below…but it’s clear there have been some lines drawn in the newsroom’s synthetic manufactured carpet squares.

Most of the favorites are based where people grew up…like here with Bill Fitzgerald and Frank Graff.

Despite their collapse last year, I’ve put the Mets fans second.  Chris Cowperthwaite has been a fan since he was four and got to skip school for the championship parade when they won it all in 1986.  Peter Kunisch did not skip any school for baseball games, but his work attendance has been shaky when the Mets are playing.

In order to be fair and balanced…I can not TELL you who Maya Starks and Penn Holderness root for.

The center of many conflicts off the air in the Precision Weather Center leads me to our last two anchors.  Bill Reh and Wes Hohenstein both grew up in the Midwest, but definitely on opposite sides of the track.  One team below has recently won a World Series; the other…it’s been a while.

This concludes today’s edition of know your anchors favorite baseball team, tune in next time when we reveal our favorite color.
