Raleigh Strawberry Fields Ripe & Ready

Unusually warm weather this spring might have meant you’ve had to turn the AC on a little early, but it also means great things in the strawberry industry.

img_0098.JPGEach of the last two weekends we’ve made the trip to Porter Farms Strawberry Patch and each time we hit the jackpot.  I’ve had a long love affair with strawberries that started when my mom took us to the patch when we were kids.  To this day, I remain a bigger fan of “patch strawberries” than the store bought variety.  I’ve just never had good luck at the stores.

The good news for you is we haven’t hit the peak time yet for picking strawberries.  That will happen this year around Mother’s Day.  The season will run until about Memorial Day, which this year is May 26th.

So, whether it’s the side of the road or the perfect patch…get your berry on!
