Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Controversy
Could the last, true, clean, non-steroids-plagued American sporting event be marred by controversy? That’s the word according to an article by the Houston Chronicle’s Ken Hoffman.
I think it’s fair to say that for most of us, the only time we pay attention to the world of competitive eating is during Coney Island’s Nathan’s Famous Fourth of July International Hot Dog Eating Contest (say that three times fast!). Likewise, I’m sure the only time we talk about Joey Chestnut or Takeru Kobayashi is about that same time.
Either way…it’s a fun event with some great story-lines, great video and occasional some regurgitation. This year, Ken Hoffman, an acquaintance of mine from Houston, was a judge at the event and wrote a great, tongue and cheek article about the event. However, at the end of the article, he eludes to a potential controversy surrounding who the winner was and why. Check out the article here!

Happy eating!
