Patch Adams Coming To North Carolina
Patch Adams, the unconventional-yet-caring doctor made famous by Hollywood, is set to make a special house call to Bladen County residents.

The man behind the 1998 hit movie “Patch Adams” will be at Bladen Community College Auditorium at 7418 NC Highway 41 in Dublin on Thursday, July 31, to present “Living a Life of Joy.” The presentation is a powerful message about the importance of caring and choosing to live life every day with joy.
The appearance will be from 6 to 8 p.m. and is free to the public. Cape Fear Valley Health System is bringing Patch Adams to Bladen County to celebrate the health system’s recent partnership with Bladen County Hospital. Patch Adams’ life was immortalized on the big screen by actor Robin Williams as a dedicated medical student, who believes laughter really is the best medicine, despite criticism from teachers and peers.
The real-life Patch Adams is not only a doctor, but also a social activist, professional clown, performer and author. He believes that laughter, joy and creativity are an integral part of the healing process. Shortly after graduation from medical school, he founded the Gesundheit! Institute. For more than 30 years, he has been spreading his message that the health of an individual cannot be separated from the health of family, community and world.
Bladen community College is a little less than two hours south of the Triangle. Get directions here.
