Penn & Wes Dancing Like The Stars

For the past month, NBC17 sports director Penn Holderness and I have been going to dance rehearsal about two times a week.  The Bubel/Aiken Foundation asked the two most uncoordinated employees at NBC17 to help raise money for them at The Southern Women’s Show in this year’s Dancing Like The Stars, Sunday, April 26 at 1 p.m.

We have each been paired with professional dancers that, through some act of dancing gods, have taught us how to dance.  I have been paired with Adrianne McDaniel and Penn with Kat Truitt. Both ladies work at A Step To Gold International Ballroom and will no doubt make us look better than we really are. Most importantly, we hope to raise some money for the Bubel/Aiken Foundation.

The Bubel/Aiken Foundation was started in part by American Idol contestant Clay Aiken. Their goal is to help children with disabilities enjoy an active life.

Penn & I will be joined by other local celebrities too. Ruth Sheehan from The News & Observer and Valonda Calloway and Monica Laliberte from WRAL. The winner of the competition will be determined by your votes and donations to The Bubel/Aiken Foundation both online and at the performance April 26 at 1 p.m. So, log on or better yet, come out and watch…and vote for us!

Unfortunately, if you visit the Dancing Like the Stars homepage, Penn Holderness has decided to take the low road as we ready for this good spirited competition. I won’t litter this blog with the ugliness he speaks of toward me…but know this…Penn Holderness will learn a new definition of shame and embarrassment when Team Wes & Adrianne get finished with him come Sunday, April 26th. And if he does finish ahead of me in the voting…I’ll just egg his house!
