Former NBC17, MSNBC Anchor Bill Fitzgerald Heading to Virginia

Former NBC17 anchor Bill Fitzgerald is moving to Richmond, Virginia to be the evening anchor for the CBS station, WTVR, starting in August.  Bill will be joining Stephanie Rochon on the WTVR anchor desk Monday through Friday.  She has been with the station since 1999.

Bill spent two years here in the Triangle anchoring WNCN’s 6, 7 and 11 pm newscasts with Melanie Sanders, Penn Holderness and Wes Hohenstein.  Prior to NBC17, Bill worked for MSNBC in New York.  He also spent time at the NBC station in Birmingham, Alabama and News 12 in New York.

Prior to his television career and after graduating from Harvard, Bill was an English teacher in Europe.  He was always the go to guy for this meteorologist for grammar advice and to plug the left side of the infield on the NBC17 Peacocks softball team.

Best of luck in Virginia Bill!
