Watch International Space Station From North Carolina
You think it would be hard to see something more 200 miles away, but when it comes to the International Space Station, it IS possible. Every month there are numerous opportunities to see the ISS from North Carolina…assuming there are clear skies.
The opportunities don’t last long since the ISS travels about 17,000 miles per hour, but since it orbits Earth about 16 times a day…you are bound to get a chance. Since the station started getting put together in 1998, it has grown to the size of two jumbo jets, which you can see as a bright light passing in the sky.
The simplest and my favorite site is run by NASA and gives you exact times and direction where you can look to view the ISS. Here are the current times for Raleigh, North Carolina. Click here to get another city or state.
NASA also has a great overview site to help you learn more about International Space Station and other space sightings in your backyard. Go here for tips on sightings.
